Remix Customers in the United States have access to US Census LODES data, a new interactive origin-destination (O/D) visualization tool in Remix. Using this data, Remix users can explore where people live and work in their city.
How do I access O/D data and use it?
Click in the bottom right corner to open the layers panel. The layer is purple and labeled "Commutes". Click on the layer to turn on the O/D Tool. To turn it off, click on the X in the top right hand corner of the legend.
Once the layer is turned on users can:
- Hover over block groups and see where people live and work
- Select a block group as an origin and hover to see destinations
- Select multiple block groups at a time to capture a neighborhood or "downtown" by holding shift and clicking multiple block groups
- Toggle between the "jobs" and "commuters" tab to see both origin and destinations separately
Transit lines can be drawn, edited or added on top of the active Commutes layers, similar to other layers in Remix.
Can I add my own custom O/D data in Remix?
Not yet - Remix is creating the ability to display custom origin-destination data sets, but it is not available at this time. Please stay tuned or reach out to your Customer Success Manager for more information.
