2. On-demand Planning
Customers with On-Demand Planning can now see their On-demand zones and Transit lines side-by-side in the map side panel.
3. Drawing and Data
Data layers and Drawing tools can now be accessed on the top right corner of the map.
4. Exports, sharing and Commenting
Project-level functions like Exports, Sharing, and Commenting are now always available in the top right of the screen, no matter what view you’re in.
🆕 Service Periods
For the first time in Remix, you can now create, modify, and evaluate multiple service levels in one project!
Think of a service period as a snapshot or a version of your service within a map — it is a unique a service combination of lines and trips. After you create versions of your service with service periods, you can assign them service dates using the Remix Calendar. Find out how to use our calendar in the FAQ below.
🆕 Calendar View
Remix's Calendar allows you to assign service periods to specific dates on the calendar. This allows you to quickly and easily visualize when certain services occur, such as service exceptions (holidays), seasonal services, school services, and regular services. Find out more about how to use calendaring in our in-depth article.
When used together, service periods and calendars are very powerful. You can use them to do any of the following:
Rider-facing GTFS updates: When you publish variations in your service to GTFS, trip planners like Google and other rider-facing apps know when specific services should run. This means your riders seamlessly have accurate, timely information on planned route changes and trip headway updates.
Costing changes: When assigning service periods to specific dates on the calendar, you are able to cost out special services. Remix calculates service period costs based on the number of days each service runs.
Scenario exploration: Service periods allow you to customize groupings of lines and trips, so it is easy to explore different service scenarios for your network.
🆕 GTFS Validation
In addition to supporting rider facing GTFS export, Remix validates your feed prior to export. This helps you publish valid GTFS for trip planning applications like Google and Citymapper. We have an in depth overview of Remix GTFS Validation here.
FAQ
Where do I find service periods?
If a project has just one service period, you can click into the "Calendar" button in the middle of the navigation bar, and you will see a "Service Period 1" by default. When there is more than one service period in a project, the service period name will automatically appear in the Remix navigation bar.

How do I add and remove service periods?
You can add add or remove service periods by going clicking the Remix calendar, selecting "Full Calendar" and you'll be able to edit service periods in the left panel.
To add service, you can click the "+" sign, and either duplicate an existing service period or create a new one from scratch.
How do I remove a route from service?
To remove a line from a service period, select the line, click the "..." menu, and "Deactivate service". This will remove the line’s service (trips) from the service period. The route geometry will stay in the map — it will show as "out of service" for the selected service period.
How do I add a route to service?
To add a route into a service period, click into the line and you'll need to add trips to the route. You can either "Create" trips or copy the timetable from another service period, if the route has service in another service period.
How do costs work with multiple service periods?
As soon as dates are assigned to the calendar or there are multiple service periods in a project, Remix will calculate costs based on the Remix calendar. For example:
If Service Period 1 is assigned to 14 days, it will calculate cost based on running service over those 14 days. You'll know it's costing this way when the "Line Stats" tab shows "Service Period Costs". If a service period has no assigned dates, the service period costs will show as "$0".
How is my Remix project different when there is one service period vs multiple?
Depending on the number of service periods and whether there are calendar dates assigned in the project, Remix will have a few small, but significant differences. This is intended to accommodate all planning use cases, from simple route sketching, all the way to producing a full GTFS for Google. Here is what you can expect:
One service period, no assigned dates
Intended for sketching plans and doing strategic planning
The navigation bar defaults to a calendar icon, and the default service period is nested in the dropdown.
GTFS Export automatically generates a calendar.txt with service assigned for 30 days from the download date.
Costs are annualized.
Estimate stops is available.
One service period, assigned dates - Multiple service periods, no dates - Multiple service periods, assigned dates
Intended for doing service planning, including making GTFS and costing.
The navigation bar defaults to a service period, and you can switch between service periods in the drop down.
Costs are calculated based on dates assigned in the Remix calendaring.
GTFS exports a calendar.txt based on the dates assigned in the Remix calendar. Only service periods with assigned dates are exported.
